We take raising cattle seriously and putting the cattle first.
Our Angus are enrolled in the NHTC and BQA program. Meaning: non hormone traced cattle, age and sourced verified through the AngusLink of the American Angus Association and Beef Quality Assurance certification.
What this means is we must provide a series of records and documents directly to the American Angus Association’s AngusLink . Here is a detailed explanation of the NHTC and BQA program our Angus cattle are enrolled in.
NHTC: We must provide a copy of our calving records from the 1st to the last calf born in our calving season. We must specify spring or fall calving. We also provide two different affidavits of our mineral program to verify there are no hormones in it, as well as providing a full list of all medication usage and all receipts for medications purchased. AngusLink makes sure the medication usage corresponds to the receipts and number of head of cattle. An auditor for the AngusLink comes to our ranch to verify that we are following protocol. Each animal has its own official identification number (RFID). This official USDA number corresponds with our ranch. When we harvest an animal, it can be trace verified back to where it was born and raised. If you type this official number in, it will map to its origin.
BQA: Beef Quality Assurance is a nationally coordinated, state implemented program that provides systematic information to U.S. beef producers and beef consumers of how common-sense husbandry techniques can be coupled with accepted scientific knowledge to raise cattle under optimum management and environmental conditions. We have taken this course to obtain our BQA certificate and must take additional courses every three years to maintain our certification.
All of these certifications are additional costs and time to us. This is yet, one of many reasons why our beef is more expensive, we do not cut corners. You, the consumer get to choose how the cattle are raised, by choosing where you buy your meat. Thank you for supporting us and helping us change this industry, for the cows!
