We have a very unique story and Guest Ranch!

Robert and I had been looking all over Montana for a year and a half. We have toured all over. We were hoping to find something that we could maybe put our camping trailer at, bring our horses, snowmobiles and enjoy this beautiful State in our spare time. Eventually moving when the kids are raised.

After giving up on finding the perfect place, I accidently found this slice of heaven! We drove 10 hours to look at it. Not knowing what to expect. We drove up through cattle country, headed through Hall which consists of a Post Office, Hogan’s Ranch Supply, a Church and some homes.  Winding our way up the valley on the wide gravel county road. I noticed that Sharp Tail Lane has its own homemade sign for the road. We were on a Private Road now. There were a few homes along the way.   We passed through a set of double farm gates entering the Ranch on top of a ridge.  We went up a small hill and curved down and around to the home. The character and view from the driveway was breathtaking. I could not speak. It was PERFECT!

As the truck came to stop, we were greeted by a handsome little boy, giving us the eye-the look of a serious little boy, checking us out. He stood at the end of the pavement with his hands on his hips, watching us. I remember being nervous. We were strangers and we were there to look at their home.  We were outsiders-from WASHINGTON!

Paul, PJ’s dad came out and shook our hands and invited us in and this is how it all started.

Fast forward-  We spent 4 hours with their family. We connected instantly.  While we were there we both noticed the incredible view out EVERY window and all the natural light filling the home.  Most of the windows sit lower to the floor maximizing the view.

What we fell in love with was, the view, the craftsmanship of the home that Paul built himself. The corrals. Paul cut the trees and split the rails. Paul and his family built this ranch from the ground up.  Every bit of what you see is work. Work to take bare land and make it into this beautiful ranch.

When we left that November day, the kids sent us off with fresh baked cookies and hugs.

We came home and knew that we had to have this ranch. It was the perfect size for our cattle operation. The perfect size house, the perfect location and this is the ONLY home in the valley with this view.

Did I mention the VIEW?

We are blessed that we  were able to buy this amazing ranch. But, the story isn’t over yet!

Paul and Natalie have become good friends.  When we went to Montana to transfer ownership, we spent two nights with Paul, Natalie, Abby, PJ, our kids and their friends.   It was so good for their kids to get to know us and our kids. It has been a good, but hard transition. This is their home that they built and its been a bitter sweet time for the kids.  All our kids spent time exploring and getting the full grand tour of the area by Abby!

They are moving to a gigantic Ranch of over 7,000 acres! This is about an hour and a half away from Hall. The kids will finish out the school year with their friends. Natalie has been commuting with the kids- 3 hours a day on the road.  Since we are renting the home as a vacation rental, Natalie and the kids have been spending some nights at their home in Hall. I know we bought it, but I still call it their home.

That has been the biggest blessing in doing a Vacation rental with the ranch. I have been able to furnish it and keep the kids’ room similar and comfortable for them . You will find that the rooms have names…Abby Room and PJ’s Room!  There have even been a couple nights that my kids and I were there working, Natalie and the kids came and stayed with us….and that little boy who had his hands on his hip and a look in his eye the first time we met….well, he curled right up in my lap and snuggled me and melted my heart!

This Ranch was built on hard work, blood, sweat and tears.  I feel blessed that we were able to buy it and continue to honor all the hard work that Paul and Natalie have done.

Eventually we will move here and this will be our home. In the time being we will be sharing it with you!

I hope you will join us in making memories at our Guest Ranch and future home.  We are excited to get to share this slice of heaven with you!
